I can’t stop smiling

I am delighted to let you know that Binsa, who is featured in chapter 9 of my book ‘Come with me to Kathmandu’, has received her citizenship. This is wonderful news as she will have so many more rights; she’ll be able to claim a small pension from the government and perhaps one day own land. Once her daughter also obtains citizenship, which will be far easier now, she will be able to obtain a passport and work for the government if she chooses to. Many services are state-run in Nepal, so this opens up a wealth of possibilities for her.

In brief, Binsa had a relationship with a man who she did not know was already married. One day his teenage sons beat her up, and she suffered enormous head trauma. The injuries were so great that she lost her memory and no longer knew who she was. She ended up living on the streets, where she was raped and gave birth to a daughter before being rescued. You can read her full story in the book.

Over the years, so many people have prayed for our ladies to obtain citizenship, so we give all the glory to God. WWR’s partner organisation, Koshish, was also instrumental in helping Binsa, so we thank them too.

There are many more ladies in Nepal still trying to obtain their citizenship papers, so please keep praying for them. We know God hears you!

I took this video on the day I interviewed Binsa for my book. She has an incredible view.

DislocatedChristians exists to create and support a community of like-minded people. I’ve described myself as Dislocated because I sometimes struggle to understand how God wants me to be in the world, but not of the world. I also move house a lot!

Please like, comment on, or share my articles if you’ve found them helpful. I’d be immensely grateful if you could follow me; click towards the bottom of the page.

If you’d like to support my writing, please consider buying one of my books. I’m undertaking some challenging (and costly) new projects, and if you’d like to encourage me with them, please consider buying me a coffee on Kofi.

Just as we are each a work in progress, so too is DislocatedChristians. Sometimes I’ll get things wrong, and I hope you’ll forgive me and continue to stick around when that happens.
