It’s enough to be still

Lake surrounded by trees at night, stars reflecting from it. Milky way

To be is better than to do; you taught me that, Lord. Though the lesson was hard, I’m thankful.
Fruit comes when we abide, I’m starting to get it.
But today, and more often now, even being feels like a stretch.

You showed me a lake. It’s night-time, and I can’t see the edges of it. The blackness encroaches.
Yet right in the middle, when the night is the darkest and the lake most still, I can glimpse the stars reflected there. They’re breath-taking.

Lord, when darkness covers me, help me to be still, so your light can be magnified. It’s a relief to know I don’t have to do or be. It’s enough to be still.

DislocatedChristians exists to create and support a community of like-minded people. Our prayer is that you’ll find some echoes of your dilemmas with church and culture in these pieces, and it will encourage you to know others have the same struggles. Just as we are each a work in progress, so too is DislocatedChristians. Sometimes we’ll get things wrong, and we hope that you’ll forgive us and continue to stick around when that happens.
