Dear Reader, you matter to God

You matter to God | Dear Readers | Prayer | Apologetic Gymnastics

To all the readers of this blog. I pray for you and as I thought about you today I sensed that God wants to let you know that you matter.

You matter to Him.

I had been praying using the image above from the book ‘Prayer: Forty Days of Practice’ by Justin McRoberts and Scott Erickson; and at first I resisted its message. I don’t want to be proud or full of self-importance.

But God reminded me that I do matter and my decisions matter.

[I’ve been trying to be eco-friendly but lately felt it is not worthwhile, so many others out there are being wasteful. At the moment of pondering that I matter I needed to get my washing out of the machine, I hang it up to dry, rather than putting it in a dryer, to be environmentally friendly. God reminded me that he sees and it matters to him that I choose to do this.]

Maybe you’re struggling with church, with culture and difficult conversations. Maybe you think you’re the only one who feels the way you do, and you are isolated and alone on your thoughts.

The truth is, you matter, and you’re not alone. When you notice things that are wrong in the church (for example see the chauvinism article I wrote recently) and don’t know what to do, it matters to God. He knows your dilemmas and is with you through them. He knows it’s not easy and not always obvious what you should do. But, he’s not asking you to crack some secret code or to perform apologetic gymnastics to prove your point.

Keep seeking Him. Focus on His love and trust the Holy Spirit to do the rest, both in your heart and in the hearts of those in the church.

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. John 16:13
